Chasing Water Lilies

Chasing Water Lilies is a simple imaginative interplay between groups of Afro-American children exercising their boundless curiosity with a seemingly illusive collection of water lilies.

The aspect of “water” in each image is represented as (a) a set of lilies encased in ice juxtaposed against (b) upward flowing fountains in which the children are playing. In each image the children are deliberately underexposed as shadow figures with the idea being to emphasize a “flight of pure youthful fantasy”.
