A Tribute To Saul Leiter
In my forty plus years as a photographer, I have been inspired by a number of legendary contributors to the art form. Saul Leiter is one of them. Although he worked extensively as a fashion photographer in the 1950s, he was also distinguished as an innovative street photographer.
According to Martin Harrison, editor and author of Saul Leiter; Early Color 2006, “Leiter had the unique ability to capture the essence of the moment; an alternate way of seeing, framing events and interpreting reality”. His approach is reminiscent of the work of Henri Cartier Bresson, another notable photojournalist and legendary street photographer. Most of Leiter’s work was produced in color.
The images in this Gallery are offered in tribute to his artistic contribution and are perhaps useful only in mimicking his photographic style.
